Usually I tend to agree with Coco Chanel. Less is often more. And when wrapping, I love sleek simple designs. But with one important exception: children's gifts. These can never be 'too much.' With a little bit of imagination, you can create inspired gift designs that really have wow factor.
Children love peeling off layers, they love discovering detail that only heads pressed right up close can see, they love sparkle and they love something that is themed in a way that most adults would think entirely OTT. It's time to forget conventional adult good taste and release your inner child!
We recently did some wrapping for a Frozen themed party and it was amazing to see the reaction to these presents: gasps, much prodding and a little bit of envy too! It's very simple to do:
Step 1: Cover your present in an appropriate background colour. (Here we used ice blue for Elsa's castle.)
Step 2: Tie a contrasting ribbon and cover the presents with themed stickers/ sparkles. (In this case silver and white snowflake stickers.)
Step 3: Stick your character figures using double sided sticky tape. (Here we used Frozen figurines from the Disney store, but cake toppers would work well too.)
Step 4: Wrap in cellophane and top off with a ribbon that echoes some of the colours in the main design. (Here, silver again.)
Finished! The only limit to your creations, is your imagination (and of course, your skills with the double sided sticky tape!)
